The "OFF-ROAD EXPERIENCE" was founded in 1991 by Michael R. Green. Originally limited to Land Rover and Range Rover owners, as the 4WD suv market increases and changes, so has "ORE". We have since expanded our off-road driver training classes and excursions to include all makes and models of 4WD sport utility vehicles and pickups. In 1997 we expanded and re-named our off-road excursion programs, the titles now quite fitting, which are... "Trail Day" & "Adventure Day Weekends". Now we’ll tell you a little about our Founder and our Instructors.

Michael Green; Owner & Founder of "ORE", also owns West Coast British/WCBR (an independent Land Rover Specialist shop) based in Livermore, CA. Multi Championship winning WCBR-DucatiMichael has been around the British automotive industry since birth, Land Rovers since age 2. At age 9 Michael would learn to drive his first 4WD, a then new ‘67 109" Land Rover Station Wagon. He’s been driving them ever since! From age 13 onwards Michael began working on British cars, including a stint with British Leyland (Land Rover, Triumph, MG, Jaguar, Austin), progressed 1973 Range Roverthrough the Japanese motorcycle industry, and opened WCB/WCBR in 1981. 1990 saw Michael take an engineering position with Range Rover North America, part of his job would have him routing, mapping, leading and instructing west coast off-road events. Michael is also a motorcycle racer, having numerous championships to his credit in both road racing and motocross. Visit WCBR Photo Gallery.

Above; Speeding his ‘73 Range Rover nearly 1000 miles across the wilds of Nevada during the 1984 Carson City International Pro-Rally, Michael enjoys sharing his knowledge of off-road driving, fast or slow.

Bret Morshead; Another long time Land Rover enthusiast, and one time co-owner of WCB/WCBR, Bret is an avid off-roader with many a mile under his belt in Land Rovers, Range Rovers, Jeeps and Isuzus. Bret too is an accomplished motorcycle racerBret Morshead, his resume containing a number of road racing and trials championships.

Left; Bret has been with us since day-one, here he’s (right) talking to "ORE" participants during a Beginner class.

John Gulliford;   (In School Bus Canyon) John has a background in Engineering, has done stints with both John GullifordFord Motor Company and Mack Western Trucks. John too is an accomplished motorcycle racer with a number of championships to his credit, he’s also an accomplished sail boat racer and navigator. John became part of the "ORE" family in 1996 when he signed on to be Chief of Scoring for the ‘96 Challenge Competition, he’s been hooked ever since. Now Chief Navigator for "ORE", he is one of our most enthusiastic instructors. Like Michael and Bret, John has appeared in a number of Worldwide publications due to his off-road adventures with "ORE". Above; With his maps, compass & GPS, John found "School Bus Canyon". This is a fantastic trail to transverse.

Robert Whitaker; Though not a four-wheeler in the true sense of the word, Rob is still an avid off-roader, his experience stemming from twenty-five-plus years of dirt bikes and motocross. An automotive machinist by trade, Rob is one of our newest "ORE" employees. Rob has also worked on our motorcycle road racing pit crew since 1981. Rob thoroughly enjoys off-roading with "ORE", and has thus become more involved with the Driver Training, Excursions and Challenge Competition event, now known as the "NEVADA TROPHY".

Ritch Julian; Ritch has been an avid off-roader since 1991. Having joined 'ORE,' in 1996, he has spent time studying and researching the local history of the wilderness, ghost towns, and mining the areas we explore. Ritch has been involved with the planning, development, and layout of the Nevada Trophy course, way-pointing, and monitoring the event as clerk of the course. His NVTR experiences have also included driving the medical car, and even filled in for no-show teams as a replacement.

Todd Rueppel; Todd currently works as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.

Todd's 1963 Land Rover climbs the "Rock Wall" during NVTR98.

Todd came to West Coast British as a customer in 1993 when he began to rebuild his 1963 88" Land Rover. Before long he befriended owner Mike Green (probably because he hung around so much), soon thereafter he was working part time in the shop modifying Land Rovers. Later, along with wife Lorie, he took the Off-Road Experience classes. As Todd gained experience he became interested teaching "ORE" classes Todd is now our Chief "ORE" Navigational (GPS & maps) instructor. Todd has competed in NEVADA TROPHY with his Land Rover, sponsored by WCB, since the first annual. In 2001 he was a course Marshal & roaming medical car.
