Technical Bulletin
190 Airway
Blvd., Livermore, CA. 94551. Phone 925-606-8301/Fax 925-606-8302
Date: November 1, 2000 (up-dated
8/2006)
Subject: Oil Cooler Hose Replacement, 3.9/4.0L V8
Vehicle: Range Rover 1989-95, Discovery 1994-99, Def 90/110.
WARNING: This warning that could possibly save you from
serious injury and damage or loss to your Rover, such as burning to the ground!
We have found that the rubber portion of the ENGINE OIL COOLER pipe/hose
combination (2-each) can over time become hard and brittle... at speed these
hoses can, and have burst! The end result is hot motor oil spraying the
exhaust system, which can the ignite the oil. In some case cars have burned
to the ground!
This same WARNING applies to P/S (x3) and
A/T cooler hoses.
Any vehicle over 8-years old or over 90,000
miles should have these hoses Inspected and Replaced.
Note:
Eurospare UK makes/sells
replacement hoses for the Defender V8, the problem is... theses hoses are
approx +.080" wider at the banjo fitting than Genuine LR, and since they are
not supplied with new banjo bolts and washers, they will NOT fit, as the
genuine LR banjo bolts will be too short. Suggest you buy Genuine hoses or
make custom one from your hoses.
